Fact > The Passing Of American Novelist John Updike

American Pulitzer-winning novelist/poet/art and literary critic John Updike passed away today at the age of 76, just shy of his next birthday in March. Until I heard more about him on the news tonight I wasn’t straight away familiar with the man considered one of America‘s most prominent contemporary novelists but the following quote leaves me a lasting impression; I can definitely relate to the feeling he describes in more ways than one..

“You would rather do anything else than write on that page, because what you write on it, is you.”

the loss of John Updike makes me wonder if the literary world is being replenished at the same rate that it’s losing such great writers
